Reflexology is a gentle, non-intrusive Complementary Health Therapy, based on the principle that different points on the feet or hands correspond with different areas of the body.

Imagine the feet are a mini map of the body. Reflexologists apply pressure to specific points of the feet, which are known as reflexes, and they reflect/mirror the organs and the structure of the body, as well as reflecting a person’s emotional health or wellbeing. The unique application of pressure is known as thumb compression or thumb walking.

A fundamental principle of Reflexology is that it assists in restoring the body’s natural balance, re-balancing your physical and emotional wellbeing and because the treatment is such a gentle method, it is deemed suitable for all ages, from babies to the elderly.

Reflexology can be used as a natural health care tool for relaxation, which may assist in reducing stress, tension or physical & emotional pressure, as Reflexology promotes good health and a general sense of wellbeing.

Below are just some of the general benefits of regular reflexology sessions:

  • Improved sense of wellbeing
  • Help with reducing pain
  • Improved sleep patterns
  • Energy levels improved
  • Encourages relaxation
  • Help to release tension>mind and body
  • Improved mood
  • Help reduce the feeling of being stressed

A Reflexology treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Your first session starts with a consultation, where we talk about you, your lifestyle and your current and medical history, all of which is totally confidential – the consultation generally lasts around 15 minutes. Subsequent sessions generally have a 5 minute catch up at the start.

You will lay on the treatment couch or Reflexology chair if you prefer, with your feet uncovered, to enable the treatment to take place.

For comfort, you will have a throw placed over your body – if you do not wish to have a throw placed over you, please inform me or removed it if it becomes uncomfortable.

Your feet (and my hands) will be cleansed and appropriate medium applied eg: wax, oil, cream or balm prior to treatment starting.

The session is all about you, and for you to benefit, I suggest you close your eyes, relax and enjoy your treatment.

At the end of your treatment, I will give you time to relax, once your treatment is complete. You will be offered water to drink and we will discuss after care advice and treatment plan.

Maternity Reflexology is a branch of Reflexology which can be used from preconception through to the post-natal stage of the maternity journey. This modality focuses on relaxation, de-stressing and helping reduce anxiety.

The treatment is carried out in a similar way to Traditional Reflexology, using maternity-friendly oils and the routine concentrates on reflexology relaxation techniques, endocrine balancing, lymphatic draining and gentle massage, all of which contribute to helping reduce stress and anxiety and improved wellbeing.

As with any Complementary Therapy treatment, there are no guarantees and should never replace mainstream medicine… If you are currently working with medical professionals and/or visiting a clinic, for any type of maternity reason, I would ask that you speak to your medical care giver, to ensure it is also possible to have Maternity Reflexology, whilst having medical treatment.

At the end of your treatment, I will give you time to relax, once your treatment is complete. You will be offered water to drink and we will discuss after care advice and treatment plan.

Please be aware: Maternity Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy, which supports preconception couples and maternity clients and should never replace medical or obstetric care

Hot Stone Reflexology is the technique of applying pressure to the reflexes on the feet (or hands) with a number of different sized warm basalt stones, to encourage a state of deep relaxation.

The heat from the stones passes through the layers of the skin, warming the muscles and helping to release tension. As with Traditional Reflexology it may assist in reducing stress, tensions or physical & emotional pressure, as Reflexology promotes good health and a general sense of wellbeing.

The ancient art of Stone Therapy, using warm stones, relaxes the body at it’s deepest level, creating harmony and balance. The subtle energy of stones are introduced into a Reflexology treatment, to help calm the senses, relax muscle tension and helps to promote a meditative state, due to the heat helping to relax muscles in the feet and calves, allowing the Therapist to work deeper into the reflex points.

The larger warmed stones are used initially used to massage the lower legs (below the knees), ankles and feet, to help relieve tension and introduce the head to the client. Smaller stones are used to work the reflex points of the feet and the heat from the stones swiftly open reflex pathways, bringing about a much deep level of relaxation than Reflexology alone.

You will lay on the treatment couch, with your lower limbs and feet uncovered, to enable the treatment to take place – wear clothes that allow access to the limbs below the knees, please do not wear tight trousers, jeans or leggings.

I would advise against this treatment during the hotter summer months, as would not want clients to over-heat.

At the end of your treatment, I will give you time to relax, once your treatment is complete. You will be offered water to drink and we will discuss after care advice and treatment plan.

AromaFlex is a Therapy that combines the use of therapeutic Aromatherapy Essential Oils in conjunction with Traditional Reflexology, allowing your Reflexology treatment to be tailored to your needs and likes, helping to create balance with the body.

Each AromaFlex session starts with an interactive section, where the client takes time to smell each of the essential oils (of which there are 12 that are used at Sensitive Soles Therapies), stimulating their Olfactory senses. The client gives feedback on thoughts and memories and their likes and dislikes on each of the oils, which feeds into the process of blending relevant oils for that day’s Reflexology treatment.

The blended oils are absorbed through the skin during the Reflexology treatment and inhalation, when using a diffuser to enhance the experience and beneficial properties of the oils.

At the end of your treatment, I will give you time to relax, once your treatment is complete. You will be offered water to drink and we will discuss after care advice and treatment plan.
